The White House is learning the lesson I learned as a boy at summer camp – you can’t win a fight with a skunk.
First of all – you’ve never told me that story! It sounds amusing and I’d like to hear it! Unless it’s just a saying I’ve never heard before, in which case, don’t elaborate.
Secondly – I agree, but for different reasons. The attacks make him look petty. Saying out loud what everyone knows doesn’t always work in your favor. Also, if Bush had attacked CNN this way I would’ve jumped up and down, screaming ‘FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!’ at the top of my lungs and signing petitions.
An apt analogy: both skunks and Fox News can leave a nasty smell about you not of your own making.
